• The low iron matt matt glass back surface's matt structure scatters light reaching the back of the glass from within the module (whether reflected from the front of the cell or ambient light incident on the back). This scattering effect:

√ Increases optical path length: This increases the chances of scattered light traveling back and forth between the glass and the cell.

√ Changes the angle of incidence: This scatters glancing light near the critical angle to an angle more easily absorbed by the cell.

√ Inhibits total internal reflection: The velvet structure disrupts the conditions for total internal reflection (which is more common on smooth surfaces), allowing more light to enter the cell rather than bein reflected.
