Low-iron Horticulture Glass

Low-iron horticulture glass is a high-transmittance glass solution specifically designed for horticulture. It works exceptionally well with light-sensitive high-end horticultural crops such as orchids and tissue culture seedlings. It efficiently tackles the issues of regular glass's low transmittance and spectrum colour cast, which can result in excessive seedling development, delayed blooming and fruiting, and poor crop quality. It significantly enhances the commercial value of horticultural crops and is an ideal choice for modern precision horticulture.

In terms of fundamental performance, this glass creates a tailored, high-quality lighting environment for plant development. Its light transmission exceeds 91%, greatly boosting the quantity of natural light that goes through when compared to regular horticultural glass, which only transmits 89%. This dramatically improves the quantity of natural light that gets through, giving enough energy for plant photosynthesis while reducing the seedling growing cycle by 5-7 days. For even greater transmittance needs, an anti-reflective coating can be applied to the glass, increasing its transmittance to 97% and considerably improving plant photosynthesis. Furthermore, unlike regular glass, which has a greenish tinge owing to its high iron concentration and can distort the spectrum, low-iron glass has a pure base colour, eliminating colour cast and guaranteeing that plants get light closer to natural sunshine. This can enhance flower coloration, such as increasing the color saturation of roses by 15%, while also increasing the sweetness of fruit.

This glass's compatibility with plant growth extends throughout the entire plant growth cycle, from seedling raising to harvest. In terms of seasonal adaptability, it enhances greenhouse heating efficiency in the winter by improving light transmittance, allowing for more heat absorption. In the summer, when combined with a sunshade system, light intensity may be readily changed to meet the growth requirements of crops at different seasons.

This low-iron horticulture glass excels in durability and environmental tolerance. Typically made of tempered low-iron glass, it offers impact resistance three times that of standard glass, withstanding hailstones ≤ 2 cm in diameter and strong winds ≤ force 8. It also exhibits excellent acid and alkali resistance, withstands the impact of pesticides and fertilizers, and remains stable within a temperature range of -30°C to 70°C, without deformation. With an average service life of over 15 years, it's more than seven times that of plastic film (1-2 years). Long-term usage decreases replacement costs by more than three times that of standard glass, making it excellent for long-term planning for horticultural sites. Furthermore, following tempering, the glass breaks down into little, blunt-angled pieces, removing sharp edges and corners and lowering the danger of scratches to operators and crops.
