When solar glass arrives at a module factory, most people first check the thickness, appearance or packaging.

Surface cleanliness is usually not the first thing discussed.

But during production, it can become an issue if it is not controlled properly.

The glass may look clean when it leaves the factory. However, PV module production has much higher requirements than simply looking good.

 

Clean glass is not only about what the eyes can see

A sheet of solar glass can appear clear under normal light.

No obvious dust.

No visible stains.

Everything looks acceptable.

But some small particles are difficult to notice during normal inspection.

During lamination, these small contaminants may affect the contact between the glass, encapsulant and other layers.

In a PV factory, thousands of pieces of glass may be processed every day.

One dirty sheet may not create a serious problem.

But if the same issue happens repeatedly, operators start to spend more time checking, cleaning or adjusting the process.
